90% of the energy used in a load of laundry goes in heating the water, contributing to global warming. To show people how their choice of water temperature affects the environment, heat sensitive stickers of the Earth were placed on doors of washing machines, in laundromats. Depending on the temperature of the washing cycle, the stickers keep changing colors, showing rising sea levels, shrinking continents and melting ice caps.
